Very rare Mercedes Benz 350SE (V8) "S" class Crayford Estate. One of only 8 to have been built by world famous Crayford company at Westerham in Kent. Voted car of the year on its launch the new s class was called by the press the best car in the world and the Crayford estate was the ulimate rich mans indulgence. conversion cost made it a very expensive car, so nearly all 8 origanally went to the rich and famous.These included Sophia Lorean with a silver car in Switzerland to carry her poodles, Rolff Harris in Australia had a yellow car and Sir robert McAlpine the building mogal had one too, this car was first owned by F.S Aldridge who owned Aldridge Trimming Company in Croydon and was used by his chauffer for the childrens school run.
A small mumber less then a handfull where built under licence by Crayford staff in Australia, and USA for for super rich farmers. World wide around 10 survive, a german MB fan has just spent 20,000 euros to rebuild a simliar car to showroom standards. 3 survive in USA and maybe 5 in Australia
Make no mistake this very rare car, is a big restoration project, especially the rear estate back end, lovely interior in hard wareing black MB tex. engine good, I have been as far as NEC for shows in car. Needs body restoration, repaint of biege paint, its metallic MB green like firn green.,also needs battery, fuel pump, to start up,needs exhaust, as car has been stored last ten years, good chrome, which is good as bumbers alone are worth £1000,very rare oppertunity. It will need to be trailered away, preferabley trailer with wiinch as these are big heavey cars.
Car comes with a number of spares collected over 20 years I have owned it, including spare door , brand new front wing MB part in factory primer, free with car. Sold due to retirement and pending move only
